Position: Occupational Therapist – NDIS Home Modifications
Forerunners Care is looking for an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team in Cairns. We specialize in providing high-quality NDIS services and are currently expanding our team to support home modification services. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of people with disabilities by creating accessible, safe, and functional living environments tailored to their unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct assessments to identify the need for home modifications for NDIS participants.
– Develop, recommend, and implement modifications that enhance independence, mobility, and safety within the home environment.
– Collaborate with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to design and evaluate customized modification plans.
– Provide expert advice on adaptive equipment, aids, and technologies to improve the functionality of living spaces.
– Liaise with builders, contractors, and other professionals to ensure modifications are carried out to specifications and within guidelines.
– Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, reports, and progress updates.
– Assist with NDIS funding applications and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and policies.
Qualifications & Experience:
– Degree in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor or Master’s).
– Full registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
– Experience working within the NDIS, particularly with home modifications, is highly desirable but not required.
– Strong knowledge of NDIS funding processes and legislative requirements related to home modifications.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and other professionals.
– Current driver’s license and access to your own vehicle.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable Skills:
– Experience with disability-related home modifications and assistive technologies.
– Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
